The elevator pitch that got my attention for this novel was “a woman falls in love with a printer” - not a person working the job of printer, but the actual office machine.
Such a good review.
I struggled with this book because it was mostly well written but you nailed why it didn't work:
- it's not enough to have a bland job as the whole plot
- and when she tried to take the plot somewhere else (the sections in italics), it didn't fit with any of the original narrative about the job.
